The department trains specialists who combine fundamental knowledge in radiophysics and mathematics with modern information technologies and machine learning. At the department, mathematical modeling, programming, and artificial intelligence are closely intertwined with research in microwave, quantum, and space radiophysics. This synergy of a comprehensive academic foundation and modern digital technologies opens up extensive opportunities for creating innovative engineering solutions and conducting scientific research.
Welcome to the Department of Microwave, Quantum, and Space Radio Physics
Our mission is to educate a new generation of professionals who can solve complex modern challenges using technology.

From Lasers to Neural Networks. Staff members and postgraduate students of the department presented their research findings at the international conference 2026 IEEE 7th KhPI Week on Advanced Technology. Konstantin Muntean, a postgraduate student of the Department, presented a paper entitled “Measuring laser beam spatial parameters by using a small-format CMOS-camera”. The authors are Konstantin Muntean, Mykola Dubinin, and Vjacheslav Maslov. Mstyslav Kaliberda, Head of the Department, presented a paper entitled “Neural-network surrogate modeling of EM wave scattering by multilayer graphene strip gratings using large database”. The authors are Mstyslav Kaliberda, Sergey Pogarsky, Dmytro Mayboroda, Maksym Legenkiy, and Viktoriia Lunova. The presented papers demonstrate the breadth of the Department’s research, ranging from optical measurements to modern machine learning methods applied to electrodynamics.

Offline classes in mathematical analysis in the safe zone of our faculty.

The department investigates the problems of excitation, transformation and propagation of waves, developes functional elements and nodes for radar systems, antennas and sensors.

Research is being conducted in the fields of quantum radiophysics and quantum metrology. New measurement methods and modern scientific instruments are being developed for fundamental and applied research. Mathematical modeling of plasmonic lasers based on quantum nanowires is being carried out for advanced photonic systems.
